Bruno Fernandes has officially renewed his contract with Manchester United until June 30, 2027, with the option to extend for a further year.
As Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has made 234 appearances for the club, contributing 79 goals and 67 assists. Since joining in January 2020, he has won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award three times and is also the Premier League's top goal-scoring player during that period.
After the contract extension was completed, he said:
- "Everyone knows how much I love Manchester United. I understand the responsibility and importance of wearing this shirt, and I understand what it takes and what ambition is required to represent this great club."
- “I’ve had so many special moments here: hearing my name chanted in the West Stand, scoring a hat-trick against Leeds United, leading the team out at Old Trafford on a Champions League night and lifting the trophy at Wembley. I believe my best moments in a Red Devils shirt will come in the future, which is why I’ve signed the contract extension.”
- "In my discussions with the management and the head coach, I can clearly see the determination to fight for trophies in the coming years. I can see a bright future for the team and I am happy to lead this team forward."
Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth said of Bruno Fernandes:
- "Bruno has performed at a high level since joining Manchester United. He is an excellent leader who strives to perform at the highest standards every day, whilst inspiring his teammates and the entire team to perform at their best."
- "Bruno's dedication to the club exemplifies the qualities required to be a Manchester United player. He continues to be a key figure in achieving all of our goals and we look forward to working with him to bring success to the club."
